Privacy, in plain language.

LessonSum helps tutors keep lesson credit records and lets approved students view their own history. This pilot page describes the current product behavior; it is not a substitute for a final jurisdiction-specific privacy notice.

What we store

Accounts use a username, password hash, recovery-code state, sessions, and security events. Tutors can store student references, display names, lesson records, balances, corrections, and import or export records needed to provide the service.

How we use data

We use data to authenticate users, enforce tutor and student permissions, calculate the ledger, show approved personal views, process requested imports and exports, and protect the service. Calendar data is read only and never automatically deducts credits.

Cookies and local storage

Authentication uses secure session cookies and a CSRF protection cookie. The public Landing page does not load private account data or store a personal ledger in browser storage.

Sharing and communications

LessonSum does not require email or phone sign-in and does not send email, SMS, or push notifications in this version. A student's approved view is limited to that student's record. We do not sell personal data. We may share data with service providers (such as cloud hosting) solely to operate the service, under strict confidentiality obligations.

Your data rights

You can access your account data at any time through the application. To request correction of inaccurate data or deletion of your account, contact us at amaozhao@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days. Deletion requests are processed promptly, though some data may be retained in de-identified form for audit purposes.

Retention and deletion

Deletion blocks access immediately and runs a durable cleanup process. Accounting history needed for audit and corrections may remain de-identified. Backup and long-term retention rules are finalized before production launch.
